Liquid Argon (LAR)

Overview

Liquid argon is argon cooled to about −186 °C. Fabrication shops, shipyards and manufacturing plants with high argon consumption use bulk liquid supply to get a steady flow of inert shielding gas without handling large numbers of cylinders.

Key Characteristics

• Cryogenic liquid at about −186 °C
• One liter of liquid expands to roughly 840 liters of gas
• Inert, colorless and non-flammable
• Removes the need to change large numbers of cylinders
