Liquid Helium (LHe)

Overview

Liquid helium is the coldest of all liquefied gases, at about −269 °C. It is essential for cooling the superconducting magnets in MRI scanners and for research equipment that operates close to absolute zero.

• Inert, non-flammable and non-toxic
• Supplied in specialized vacuum-insulated dewars
• Boils off gradually, so deliveries are planned around use
